Drawings by Diane Barcelowsky

Sept 1st-Oct 3rd 2004

Opening Reception Friday Sept 3rd, 2004 7pm-11pm

We layed down and looked at Diane's drawings for hours one night.

Its easy to get lost in the tainted youthfulness that reverberates among its depictions of severed limbs, naked hippies making whoopee in the woods, boats sailing down trees, rollerskaters witnessing god and creepy men locking you in their rooms. The drawings could be compared to the Royal Art Lodge, similar in their child-like quality and underlying cleverness. The situations depicted often reveal an uncertain truth and vulnerability.

In these fine line drawings, life becomes a strange escape to find the truth.
